![]() ![]() I finally realized that when I had the unlimited fuel setting turned on, I was attempting to land overweight at around 34,700 pounds.Īs soon as I turned off the unlimited fuel setting, I stopped getting waved off every time and I started sticking 8 out of 10 case 1 landings. ![]() I was checking my total weight and then turning on the dump fuel switch and just assuming that it was getting me at or below 33,000 pounds total weight and automatically turning off at 6,000 pounds of fuel. ![]() Finally I realized that my standard practice of dumping fuel down to my bingo setting of 6,000 pounds, which gets the F/A-18C below 33,000 pounds with no munitions except for bullets and AIM 9’s on the wing tips, wasn’t working because the dump fuel switch wasn’t staying in the ON position because of the unlimited fuel setting. It was driving me crazy because I didn’t understand why I was getting waved off every single time. I usually only get waved off about 2 out 0 case 1 landing attempts, but after I turned on the unlimited fuel setting, I started getting waved off 100% of time, even when I was On-speed, on center line, with a centered ball. I had never flown in DCS with unlimited fuel before, but recently I turned on the unlimited fuel setting, so I could practice my case 1 landings over and over without having to refuel. I’m not sure if it’s automatic, but it seems like the AI LSO has a way of knowing if an aircraft coming in for landing is overweight and automatically waves off overweight aircraft. ![]()
